Items you will need: (1) Black eye pencil, at least  (2)  eyeshadow colors and (1) mascara.

Once you learn the technique of creating the “Smokey Eye” look it will became very easy for you to do on a regular basis. There are many ways to do this look such as simple techniques from using one color or more advanced techniques using several colors.

Simple Smokey Eye is just a bit of smudged eye pencil drawn as close to the lashes as possible and softly feathered out. For intensity, line the inner rims of the eyes with black.

Advanced Smokey Eye Effect

1. Take the black eye pencil and outline your eye all the way around (When using the black eyeliner never use a liquid eyeliner).

2. Using a brush or sponge applicator, apply the base color on the eyelid above the crease and blend slightly.

4. To define the outside corners of your eye, use a horizontal “V” shape. Use a soft brush, holding it sideways blend the shadows on the upper eyelid. With a flat brush, blend the shadows on the lower eyelids.

You can repeat this step as many times as you would like. A thickening mascara and sharp eyebrow arch can add to the “smokey eye” look if you want a very dramatic look.

The base color should be a shade slightly darker than your skin tone. Use colors like beige, grey and brown for a soft look or bright colors like yellow or pink and for more dramatic looks. The contour color should be a dark or shimmery color such as blue, green or purple. The contour color will depend on the color of your outfit but black always gives an amazing look.

You can always use another color to shade your eyes somewhat of a highlight under your eyes but it is not necessary. The third color enlarges the eye area, but you can also use a facial powder if preferred.
